UI / UX Designer - Athlete Experience

Part-time, Contract

Location: Remote, USA

Position Overview

As a UI / UX Designer for Boathouse Connect, you will be responsible for updating the design of our mobile and web applications to add new features and revamp existing ones. Being part of the Athlete Experience team, you will primarily work on the parts of our platform that athletes use on a daily basis. As a UI / UX designer, you will take user feedback and use it to modify the designs of our platforms to help athletes have the best possible experience with using our web/mobile apps.

Required Skills

• 2+ years as a rower, coxswain, or rowing coach
• Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, Builder.io, etc.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design, and usability best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have knowledge/skills

• Experience with project tracking software (we use YouTrack)
• Experience with group communication tools (we use Slack)
• Knowledge of the Scrum Guide (we operate on 4-week sprints, but release multiple times per month)
• Previous experience with creating a new design for a mobile app

All of the nice-to-haves are exactly that... Nice to have. Knowledge or experience with these items is not required and will not be penalized in our selection process. We will train you on anything you don't have experience in.

Things you may do

• Create prototypes of new features for web/mobile apps
• Present prototypes to current / potential users to gather feedback to iterate on the design before sending it to the development teams
• Work with development teams to unblock them when questions about user-flow or aspects about the general design arise
• Join Zoom calls (or watch the recordings) with current / prospective teams to help understand how we should modify our products to better suit their needs.

Compensation

USD $20 / hour, working 0-10 hours per week.
